Show Your Employees That You Appreciate Them


When you want to show your employees how much you value them and their contributions, you don’t need to wait for an occasion to do it. There is no need to spend so much all the time. Some verbal affirmation and little tokens of appreciation are useful in making your employee feel valued through the year.

  1. Be generous with your praises. It helps if you praise your employee for doing something well and to identify the actions which have won your approval.
  2. Be polite and respectful. Say “please” and “thank you” when due. Aim to create a more gracious and polite workplace.
  3. Show an interest in their life outside work. Ask them about their family, hobbies or what they do during weekends. It shows them that you care.
  4. Make an effort to know what they like. That way, you can get small appropriate gifts to show your appreciation.
  5. Give them monetary rewards (if you can afford it). Staff performance bonuses or gift certificates to show you care
  6. Give them lunch treats. Take them out to lunch or maybe even dinner during a birthday or for no reason at all. There is no need for an expensive treat. Just a decent meal as a gesture of appreciation.
  7. Plan out a proper career path for them. Give them a promotion or increment when due or send them for training courses so that they may upgrade their skills. Let them represent your business at events. It is a good show of appreciation for their efforts and provides a great incentive to keep up the good work.

So get started on being the dream boss your employees will rave about and make your company the place with the ideal work culture. It all begins by being sincere!
