The loss is felt more so if the employee was a good one and an asset to the organization. How do you turn employees who are leaving into assets?
- Ask them for feedback – Find ways to get them to give you honest feedback about the company, working environment, working hours etc. The feedback obtained will be useful for developing future company policies and assist in improving the work environment for your current employees.
- Give them a good farewell party or lunch and treat them with respect.- Get these employees a farewell gift and wish them well. Your former employees could be your future customers and will bring their opinions about your organization with them. If you treat them well even when they are leaving, they will be more likely to speak well about your organization.
- Keep the door open - Good employees are worth re-hiring. So if you have a vacant position and if someone would like to return, consider it. You could save a lot of time and money by re-hiring a former employee than hiring and training a new one. Make sure, the returning employee is up to date with new company policies, work procedures and any other related changes.
