Marketing Tips For Small Businesses – 2010 Edition

  1. Be consistently visible to your potential customers.- Let them know you are around and in business.
  2. Draw up your list of prospects and clients and work on those.- Be focused on that.
  3. Develop more organic search engine traffic  - The organic search engine results (clicks which you do not pay for) represent 75% of all clicks from search engines. Pay per Click, (PPC) advertising only generates 25% of all clicks. Pay per click advertising only goes on as long as you have money to spend whereas organic listings last longer than PPC. So look into that.
  4. Write Search Engine Optimized press releases. – These press releases should be SEO friendly and written specifically for the web. This can help small businesses get targeted potential customers to their website without having to spend too much.
  5. Use Videos for Marketing – Videos capture one’s attention. No doubt about that. The sound and motion are very compelling. It is now easy to make and put up videos on your website. And it does not have to cost much.
  6. Don’t neglect your online business strategy – Now that many people use the Internet, people are likely to find your business online before you know it. So, you need to focus on building a good reputation for your business online too. Do regular press releases, video marketing etc.
  7. Use Social Media – Further to point 6. Now that many people use social media tools like Facebook and Twitter, think about how you can you use them to give your customers or targeted potential customers information that would benefit them and eventually draw them to what your business has to offer.

Remember : Don’t be preoccupied by how many people read your newsletters or become fans of your Facebook business page or follow you on Twitter. Successful marketing is what translates into ACTUAL SALES. Focus on helping your customers succeed and ultimately closing the deals!

Have an awesome business year ahead!
